Mooney has been workin’ on a film… This is all we know of it.
”James Kinnaird had a month off from his usual job filming the rippy crew. So we decided to get away from home and find some waves. We went to Indo, to WA, to a hoax Tassie swell, back to Indo then home for the last week… A month of travel in all, and some ok footage which made us think… ‘What the fuck do we do with this?’… Nobody will buy it?… The only other option was to get a few clips on a covermount and be forgotten in a week when the next one comes out? We thought ‘lets see if we can make something interesting and hopefully be remembered for two weeks’… There’s a bunch of acting to tell a story which involves rocket ships, far away planets, mythical waves and giant birds, plus a bit of surfing that chimes in with the story… So if you hate acting and shit acting at that, you will hate this...We wrote and shot the whole movie (which is based around a secret RCJ lets me in on) before we had even spoke to Ross and thank the lords he agreed otherwise everything we shot would have been useless. We told Brad Gerlach that Ross was in on it and his acting had already been shot and he reluctantly agreed. He was soon was followed by Laurie Towner, Ace Buchan, Hoyo, Dom Wills and even master shaper Bill Cilia.” AM
Keep your eyes out for this when it hits the stands on the cover of Waves
”The left and the right had hardly been surfed before us and they were both in the middle of the jungle. We had to trek a few kilometers to get to the right… We ate fresh fish on the beach out of banana leaves and said to each other about 1000 times… “ahhh we’re livin!” AM
We have finally scraped together the coin to give this place a revamp… Tighten it up, dust it off and pick up our act… It will remain simple and user-friendly, we are just adding a little bit of flare here and there… Along with a few new residents… If all goes to plan the new site will be ready for launch at the end of February…
Creative Destruction sat dormant late last year while I took some time off from the surf industry to work on a documentary for the John Butler Trio, and its almost done… With time back on our side CD is set to kick off in a mutated version of its former self… We recently picked up funding for the project that will allow us to work on episodes for more than a day here and there, instead each episode will come from a months worth of trips and shoots, which is a big step forward from the early days of CD where each episode came from only a day or 2…
I finally got my grubby mits on the ‘Them Crooked Vultures’ album and its had me slappin’ round my fibro shack all morning… They had some big expectations riding on this thing and they have smashed em home… When your bouncin’ to an album first listen you know its gonna be a corker… There is only a handful of albums I can listen to start to finish, back to back… This might of just cracked the list with Rage -self titled, Let’s go and Blood sugar sex magic… Mastodon is rufflin my ear holes aswell… Thank fuck for music, sex and good food… I’m too happy this year, its a deadset concern… Anger was once a gift, now its a curse… See ya
I have a heap of links I checkout with a morning coffee… Dion’s is one of the first clicks, usually when the cup’s about half full… It has its moments when he’s over it, done with it… Maybe when his critics start eating at his soul… But then there’s moments like the one he had last night when he says it straight up, boozed up, pumped up… and he is right on the money… Set ‘em straight Agius
If you’re wondering what ‘I make films’ is, I only know him when he pops up with a question or 2 online somewhere… But Gabe Roxburgh gets it, you’ve come along way mate from the first clips you sent me… props mate
Its been a manic start to the year… But manic is better than boring…
Our lil town has continued to join forces to launch ‘RYZE UP’… A day that will honour our great mate Ryan Watson… People have stepped out of thier skin and thrown down some banger prizes that will be raffled off on the day – Companies like Volcom, Rhythm and Billabong, through to local crew like Shotgun Surfboards, Franks Gym, Music @ Noosa, Noosa Sound Resort, the Board Rack, Noosa Surfworld… the list goes on…
I have never seen raffles or door prizes with odds or prizes like these… 6 local bands will keep the tunes flowing, from mellow acoustic to all out mayhem with the ‘Drop Dead Ugly’ reunion… Kids will be able to run riot for the day, cause thats what its for, the kids… Ryan’s kids most importantly…
Bring your dancing shoes and your smiles to Pirate Park on Saturday the 13th of February for ‘RYZE UP’
There is some cool shit comin’ out of the woodwork in 2010… Here’s an online magazine that a few crew in the west are locking down… Soggybones.com… From the outside lookin’ in everything seems to be on the money over there.
It’ll be live in time… good things come to those who wait… hahaha fuck I speak some shit on these pages… But it’s all the truth… pure truth
