We just returned from what was well and truly the funnest trip of my life. Ive never been to a town that says ‘get fucked’ to boredom like the one I just called home forĀ  2 weeks. Not one dull moment, I actually would of liked one dull moment so I could appreciate those moments prior to it. We surfed, we fished, we partied. We lived the sort of fortnight that you wish you had a replay button for. A bag of clips sits beside me awaiting the cull, a pile of photos leans against it, photos that sum up the adventure from high speed blurs to sun blazed lifestylers. It was fucking momentus. Life is good right now.

Posts will resume in the next few days we hope you join us.

LLS- Taiwan

07/04/2010 - Posted by RV in ARCHIVES, LA LUNAR SYNDROME
I was blown away by the surfing prospects in Taiwan. It had everything… Points, beachies, reef’s and bombies. We went there for a typhoon, which I think is a must if you want to surf anything over three feet. For five days there was ten feet of swell. We stuck to the sheltered areas with better winds which on some days the waves were still quite solid. The power of the swell here stumped me that it was stronger than most south swells we get on the east coast. Apart from the surfing here the people were awesome the food was as cheap as bali.
Taiwan did remind me somewhat of what I imagine bali would have been like thirty years ago. Perfect waves, minimal crowds and untouched landscapes. When I imagined Taiwan I thought of huge congested cities and millions of people living right on top of each other. What I found outside the cities which was most of the country is that it had a quiet country feel. A place with a lot of soul.
If you want to visit Taiwan and I strongly suggest you do for your next surf trip get online and check out Fu Dog (http://www.taiwansurftours.com/fudog/). Talk to Sammy.

WEEKEND LINKS

Fuck is a word that sums up my last few weeks better than any other. Whoever said ‘swearing’ is a sign of lacking intelligence was a deadbone, sometimes swear words just work. Billy Connolly said something like this ‘If you smack your thumb with a hammer, you cant just say ‘oh, fideldy dee I just wacked my thumb with a hammer, you say FUCK!’… Anyhow excuse the reminiscing, I spend way to much of my life thinking about things that are behind me, its kind of a curse. The past few weeks have been full of 12-14 hour days, Creative Destruction chapter 2 is out the door and for the first time in a long time im kinda proud of what we achieved, not for any other reason than it really had a purpose, surf films have forever been surfing, music and pretty images, and they are fucking great, i grew up watching that shit every morning, but I am pumped to think that hopefully we have created 15 minutes that is entertaining for both surfers and your average punter whilst helping out the strange world we live in. Along with CD ch2, the John Butler trio Documentary is about to walk out the door as we speak and I am over the moon about that… Blah blah blah

Here is a few links to some sites that have showed us some love, so hopefully we can send some people to their sites. Enjoy

CREATIVE DESTRUCTION CH2: THE KIDS OF MISION MEXICO

07/01/2010 - Posted by RV in ARCHIVES, CREATIVE DESTRUCTION

It is easy to doubt the world we live in. But there is still good in the world you just have to step aside from the pack and take a look for yourself.

What Pam and Alan Skuse have created is something I had never witnessed until going to Mision Mexico. Their Story is exceptional. They packed up their life and said goodbye to their family in Australia, they set out to build a family for kids that didnt have one. That was 10 years ago. They are now Mum and Dad to 52 of the happiest little souls you will ever meet.

In saying this we hope you do meet these kids one day.

You can donate to the kids of Mission Mexico through our Paypal account, there is a button that sits just to the right of the video player. If you have the means to supply the refuge with anything from new clothes and stationary to surfboards you can make contact here.

As mentioned in Chapter 2 it was the film ‘Somewhere Near Tapachula’ that inspired our trip to Mexico. The films’ creators Stefan Hunt and Jonno Durrant made this amazing film with a very tight budget and it is commendable that every cent they make from the film will go directly to Mision Mexico. To purchase the film you can do so here
