I haven’t been hyped on sport like this since I was a kid. The cricket, the tennis, the summer sports in Australia have been alltime… The League season is a few weeks away, its a good time to love sport.
Ball sports have always been on the big screen… Now surfing has stepped up.
Live coverage on the web has been a feather in Professional surfings’ cap since it first kicked off, but now its Live on Fuel TV and it is something new, something exciting, something Surfing needed. Not so needed for the masses, nor for the mainstream but for the surfers.
In between work I have been watching as much as possible, I missed Joel, Kelly and TB in round 1, but I did see Mick… It was surfing of another level. The guys before and after him surfed well, the conditions were tough but Mick dismantled them, every heat I watched after Micks didnt hit the mark…
The term ‘hi-fi’ has burnt a whole in my brain, its meaning and purpose is relevant moreso now than ever before and we love it, but what Mick chose to do in his Round 1 heat Hi-Fi’d the shit out of Hi-Fi without a punt or grab variation insight… It didnt need a title, it was surfing at its best and it looked damn good from the comfort of my couch.
